Food is awesome, but getting a reservation for 4 is impossible. Directions say call after 5pm. I call at 6ish, nobody answers the phone even after 5 tries. I then go to the website. Answer the questions then is informed you cant make a reservation unless you are a party of 6. Talk about crazy.

One of the best restaurants on the Big Island. Nothing short of amazing food, customer service, big portions, and affordable pricing. Plus it's BYOB. Don't forget to try their desserts....if you have room.

Perfect place to go with family and friends, friendly staff, good food, fast service especially with how busy they are. #1 Boneless Korean Fried Chicken on the island I dont care what anyone else says! Even better than Hawaii Community College's Korean Fried Chicken. Some tips for new comers... Put in a reservation as it is always busy like normal, and do yourself a favor and order the Korean Fried Chicken, seriously good stuff😋

Great Food! Caring staff

Our first time in Hilo. We just finished shopping at Longs Drugs. Waiting in the parking lot, wondering what's for dinner. Google showed this restaurant right across the street. It was almost dinner and we were right on time.Drove across and parked in their fairly small lot, which holds around 10 cars. We were the first. A few minutes later, another car. Then another. They all got out and went to the restaurant, even though it wouldn't open for another 15 minutes. Why?We followed suit. No wonder. At the front door was a line of almost 10 people.Huge servings... Great taste... Very reasonable prices... We're coming back next time.

Like the food home style good flavor good service

Best Katsu in Hawai'i (ive been to two islands)I worked with Mikey and his staff for a short time as a dishwasher. My aspergers makes working with other people hard and ultimately i ended up quitting over a disagreement with another senior but younger dishwasher. Mikey is great and I love his staff. Still miss working here because we all got a free meal each shift. The cooks put love into their work and are passionate. Likely the single best restaurant in Hawai'i and you would probably drive right by it if you didnt know it was there.

Love the tonkotsu ramen here! Very flavorful and the Kenichi sized option makes food a very filling meal. We always plan a stop here when we are on the island!

Ramen is good and flavorful but soup is too salty.

So excited we found this place, it's fantastic! Filled with locals so we knew it was going to be great! Yum yum!

This restaurant is AMAZING...probably me and my family's favorite place to dine when on the island...I absolutely recommend the deep fried pork chops they are to die for!

Food is excellent here, I usually get a nice, calm worker answering the phone, but today I called to order and the woman who answered was very rude! Even told me that she was "too busy"! Well its a busy restaurant so if you cant handle pressure or don't have customer service then please find another job! Would give 5 stars if staff had better manners!

Good vibes in this place. They had the music going so they didn't care if that one family member talks hella loud. Or your whole family for that matter. Food was good at a good price. If you're looking for someplace quiet and demure this ain't for you. They also have a party room in the back.

OVERPRICED! Go Balnes or Cafe 100 for Siamin or Ramen Noodles.. or, get a "Loco-Moco" @ Cafe 100... Ono-licious

Great Korean salad!

My favorite place to eat in Hilo!!! And I dont give the 5 star badge often!! But this place is awesome. Always fast and friendly service!! The food is awesome!! My number 1 go to is the mix plate option. I like to choose my top 2 favorite items which would be the boneless korean chicken and the mahimahi katsu. I grew up going to this restraunt but it was a different name and different owners then but the food is still similar. Do yourself a favor and stop by and have a bite it's well worth it. Believe me.

Very good dining experience. Great service, very good local style menu and very reasonable prices and homemade ice cream. The food quantity was on the large side and well prepared with good presentation. The booths are very nice with comfortable seats. The restrooms are located outside of the restaurant but they have wide parking spaces!! Recommended if you're in Hilo town.

Entered the restaurant and I could feel warm cozy environment... Right of the back our night started off well... Very polite staffs! Our food order came quick.... Try it you'll love it... Mahalo

You will always find consistent quality ono food at Kenichi! My go to place for our annual holiday company party. Secret Menu item ask for the Mykee Moco!

Good Local food, big portions

This is a good restaurant to go to if you're in the area. The food was great, the service was good, and the environment was good. I had no complaints for this restaurant. The food portion is large however, so make sure you have an appetite when you go.

Nice little family resturant. Meals are good and run $12-$14 with meat, (the fish and beef are local) rice (white or brown) and choice of salad. The sizzling steak platters looked great, but I enjoyed my Mahi katsu and will probably try steak next time. They also have a nice fried rice and plenty of ramen choices. No A/C, but comfortable inside. Obviously a local favorite and right across the street from court complex.

Unfortunately, our expectations based on previous reviews were not met. We gave a 3 because the wait staff was very good. We will not return.

We just moved to Hilo 2 weeks ago from Oahu and we've already been to Restaurant Kenichi 3 times! It is no wonder why this GEM is crowded every night - Well worth the short wait time for a table as the food is simply amazing! If you're visiting the Island, be sure to put this one on your list! So Ono!!!

You really got to be careful the restaurant closes at 2pm for lunch and reopens at 5pm. We had a party of 6 and the wait was about 20 minutes. I ordered a spicy pork and Korean BBQ chicken both were wonderful although the Korean barbecue chicken was a little sweet for me. Two people in our party ordered the deep fried pork chop and it was the winner. Everything was excellent service was good prices were a little on the high side.

Delicious spicy Ramen! Was not abke to get anyone to answer the phone for a pickup order but they were quick to get it out to me with all the needed utensils. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was! Definitely will be back to try more items.

Had the spicy ramen and it was delicious. With ramen there is the option for bbq chicken, pork or beef. My husband got the pork and I got the chicken, both were equally good.

Awesome food and staff. Sometimes long lines during lunch, but well worth the wait. Eaten there at least 10 times, never disappoints.

Loved the butterfish and matcha cheesecake.

Went there twice of our 3 night stay in Hilo. Must be popular among locals. The receptionists know their customers. And, lots of hugs between different groups of customers. Tried ramen. We don't usually like ramen because we don't like soft noodle. Ramen noodle here is different. And, we think that they don't use MSG because we didn't feel thirsty afterward. Ramen was delicious. Korean chicken was very good as one of the earlier reviewer said. We ordered catch of the day for both days. The mahi mahi was the best taste we ever had.
